Bobby Taylor

Bobby D. Taylor of Pulaski, passed away January 29th, 2019. He was born March 5th, 1932 in Elkton, Tn and was 86 years old. He attended Elkton School from grade school through twelve and was president of the graduating class of 1950. He participated in baseball, basketball, and football and in addition to being captain of both the basketball and football teams he was selected all district in basketball and all duck river conference in football. He graduated from Martin Junior College in Pulaski, Tn, attended Middle Tennessee State University and graduated from Athens State University in Athens, AL. with a BS Degree in education. Visitation will be held Friday, February 1st, from 4:00 until 7:00 and Saturday, February 2nd, from 1:00 until 4:00 at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory Funeral Service will take place Sunday at 1:00pm in the Chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 58 years, Effie K. Taylor and grandson Michael E. Braden. He is survived by one aunt, Margaret Taylor Wooten and Husband Shelby of Pulaski Tn. Daughters: Patricia (Robert) Garret of Prospect, TN and Gina Harmond of Pulaski, Tn Son, Bobby Taylor of Ardmore, Tn 10 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Great grandchildren. He was stationed at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas during the Korean War. During the Vietnam War e was a member of the HS-4 Black Knights who operated from various aircraft carriers and made more rescues than any other navy squadron during the war. Additionally, the Black Knights retrieved the Apollo Astronauts upon their return from space including Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon. He was a life long member of the Methodist Church with his most recent membership being at St. Andrews Methodist Church in Pulaski. Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory are in charge of arrangements with interment to be at Giles Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
